The Siamese and Oriental Cat Society was formed in January 2007 by exhibitors, pet owners, and breeders to provide a nationwide club for all lovers and fanciers of the Siamese and Oriental cat breeds. The Committee members felt the need for a club that covered both of our beloved breeds, that would appeal to pet owners, as well as exhibitors and breeders.
The Society's Inaugural Meeting was held in Oxfordshire with 8 people in attendance and apologies from 3 members who were unable to attend but still sent in their suggestions. Many new ideas for the club's future were discussed with lots of exciting plans now underway.
As a new club, we feel extremely fortunate to have a large number of dedicated committee members who all share not only a huge enthusiasm for the Society and for TICA, and the exciting plans that we have for the future, but also, we all share the love for our Siamese and Oriental cats and a huge fascination with these beautiful breeds.
In September 2007, an Extraordinary General Meeting was called to discuss the Society's affiliation. The Officers and Committee members voted that the Society become affiliated with The International Cat Association (TICA). The vote was unanimous and in February/March 2008 the Society began the process of applying to become a TICA club.
