On 16th December 2007, the first Society Social Event was held at Tina and Tony Hewitt's home in Bristol. An entry fee was charged per head and although some folk could not attend due to ill health, the event was well attended.
Teen and Tone provided a simply delicious buffet lunch, but refused any payment for it whatsoever, so that all the money raised could go straight into the Society coffers. In addition, everyone who attended was asked to contribute a small prize for a raffle and most provided several, including a bag full of prizes donated by one of those who were unable to be there, due to illness. The prizes ranged from cat blankets, bowls and memorabilia, to bottles of booze, both full size and miniatures! It turned out that there were so many prizes, that everyone there went home simply laden with goodies!
All in all, we had a wonderful time, surrounded by Teen and Tone's beautiful cats and £83 was raised for the Society, plus a further donation of £20 given by a member of the Committee, because Tone refused payment for a birthing box he had made for her. We are delighted that our first Social event raised a total of £103.00.
